Is there anywhere to get a free credit report. Something where you just put in your social security # and it gives you a report. No trial memberships,no strings attached, nothing. I mean free A one time thing.

My son was gonna buy a Kawasaki 50 4wheel for his daughter for Christmas. He was gonna put some money down and put 1000 on kawasaki credit and they denied it. He has never been denied any loans, truck payed for. Just loan on there house and his wifes car. She bounced some checks a while back but he took care of them. Unless she has done something lately and did not tell him yet:eek: I feel for her if she has:mad: I think there must be a mix up some where. Either somebody did not put something in right or your ole faithful computer screwed up. But he just wanted to check his credit somewhere without having to pay a lot of money. I would think there is something out there. Just put your ss# in and here is your report. So if anybody knows something let me know. Thanks

lschultz,

Lots of places to get this done for free. I cant remember all the names of the credit agencies, I believe there is 4 in total. One is

www.experian.com

Also, try www.realtor.com and go to their finance section. This is where the wife and I just double checked everything before looking at new homes

Thanks. But to me them ain't free. After I start filling out they want a credit card number for a trial membership. If you don't want to be a member they say nothing is charged to your card but I have heard that before. Then you have to got through all the hassle of getting it taking off or credit for it. I want something does not ask for a credit card #. Thats just the way I am. :D

I do believe that if you are turned down for credit, you can get free reports from the credit bureaus. In Ohio this is the law. Check it out.

Chuck is correct. If you get turned down for credit, you are entitled to a free credit report. I think this might be a federal thing. I'm not sure how to do it, though. Have your son talk to the loan officer where he was denied credit. They should be able to tell him what the process is.

You are also entitled to a free credit report from each and every one of the credit reporting agencies, perhaps once every year or once every two years, I don't quite remember.

There are a couple conditions by which one can receive a free credit report. One condition is that you have to certify that their data is inaccurate due to fraud. Thus, if you even *remotely* think there might be fraudulent activity on your credit (identity theft), call them up, request the free report.

Trans Union, Experian and Equifax are the three major CRAs. If you worry at all about identity theft, have a fraud-block (fraud stop) put on your account. After that, *no one* can open anything on your credit without you being personally and explicitly notified. Not even you! Granted, it can be a bit of a pain at times, but it sure puts a stop to ID theft.

He told me yesterday that he can get one from his bank for 2. 00 I will tell him this evening when I get home that they should do it for nothing. Thinks for the info fellows.
