Free Dyno Check from Cummins Southeast

When I picked up my lift pump yesterday I noticed a brochure that is offering a free dyno and 22 point vehicle check. The offer is good through December 2003 and is being offered by Cummins Southeast. I talked to the service department and they told me all I have to do is schedule the test and go in. Looks like a good deal. And the price is right.

#1 - Free Dynamometer Check - We diagnose your truck, coach, RV or Dodge truck on our state-of-the-art - 1000 hp capacity Taylor Dyno.



#2 - Free Maintenance Check - We do a 22 point maintenance check on your vehicle, then give you the results. Checks include:

Not that I'm aware of. I'm pretty sure Cummins southeast has more service centers than these. It looks like it might be a Florida deal aimed at the snowbirds and other tourists, but I don't know. I'll be getting this done sometime in the near future.

This hadn't occurred to me. I was really interested in obtaining an objective measurement of how my truck performs with the EZ. But are you implying (seems logical, now that I think about it) that if I subsequently have warranty issues, and DC sends the claim back to Cummins, that Cummins would then have kept a record of the fact I had the EZ on the truck? Maybe I need to find a different dyno. Anybody know of one in central Florida?

I wouldn't swear to it but in this age of computers ??



Will they enter your VIN into their computer?



If they do, and a warrantee question arises, they may check their computer system, maybe not.



At the very least I would think they will have your name and address, so they can send you promotional material and such, sounds like they are trying to improve their customer base.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought DC bought the engines from Cummins with no warranty, so all claims are handled by DC. I guess it would be possible for the two companies to share any information in the database (VIN's, BOMBS etc. ), but I'm not sure how probable that would be. I wish Cummins Atlantic here in Greensboro offered that service.

I was under the impression that the 100,000 mile warantee for the engine was through cummins. If you have a vp-44 failure, the pump eventually ends up back with bosch, thru cummins.



And of course I could be wrong.

The issue for me is quite simple. I'm coming up on 90K miles, probably sometime next week. I'll mileage out of warranty, probably sometime during the summer based upon past driving habits, or time out next January. I have a service manager that knows about my truck and BOMBs and doesn't care. I'm in pretty good shape as far as that goes. The free offer is good until December 2003.



CFAR, you make some good points, though. It is possible. The other thing to remember is that probably 99 percent of all warranty denials start with the service manager. That's not concrete fact, just my experience reading threads around here and the Ford and Chevy sites. If you have a good service manager, you probably don't have to worry about this one and you probably don't have to worry about it, anyway.
