Sweet... ... ... ... . that will make the transition to the udc easy

HAHAH!! the funny thing about the Smarty update is I JUST re-loaded my TNT race tune yesterday for the spring, and today I see the POD download.

While I have you Bob, is there going to be a REVO TNT POD? Can I go back to REVO or REVO TNT or am I stuck with POD?

Thank you!

I personally can find no useful purpose of the POD, and if I had an S06 instead of an SO4, I would not update it to the POD. That's my preference because mostly, I would not want to leave my downloader connected to my OBDII port to utilize the POD, also I do not make changes that often, once I find a setting or software I like, it stays in my ECM.

How would changing to the POD software make the transition to UDC easier? I am asking because I really can't see it. In the future if I want UDC, I have to upgrade to an S06 because Marco says he cannot fit UDC into an S04.

So, if there really is something advantageous towards S06/POD over the S06 concerning UDC, would someone please explain? Also does anyone know if I would be able to load my VIN-Locked TNTR software for my S04 into an S06? I believe I may be able to... TIA Jess

If you have an S06, and just add the POD feature, all your softwares will still work just fine. The POD feature just allows you to dial each individual SW to a percentage of fueling between 1 and 99%.

One you upgrade the firmware to PoD, you then go to the S06 PoD download page and download TNT if you want it, or stick with Revo. The base tuning option will be the same, just go to the S06 PoD page.

If you want to keep up with software updates you will have to get PoD, as it appears the only S06 SW is for the PoD addition, and won't be updated anymore.

I use PoD in the winter, I turn it down to 70 for a softer pedal. I also use it on extended trips on dirt roads for the same reason. The rest of the time I leave it alone.

Thanks AH, I understand about changing the firmware, but with my 03 not all TNT's are equal, and I have found one that actually works, so I am not changing it.

I did not know that the software updates were only for the S06 POD, have not kept current with the Smarty updates.

I don't carry my Smarty with me usually, do not want it to end up in some thief's hands. If I need a softer pedal I can just load a lower sw in 5 minutes, but I run my torque management on the lowest level(1), so just by driving sanely I do not have issues.

You can load UDC into an S06, so for my use I still cannot see an advantage to the POD feature, unless I am not able to get my TNTR over as base for UDC. My current TNTR is close to perfect, it would be a great starting platform. I may have to pick up a used S06, and try and download my TNTR for my S04 into it, what's the worst that can happen? Will not recognize it?

Yeah the 03 is a tough one for sure.

I am just guessing from the looks of the website that MADS assumes all owners will go PoD when updating, therefor all future updates will be on the PoD format.

For me there is a HUGE difference in a softer pedal from SW3 PoD 70 than SW1. The way PoD works it remaps the TPS, so WOT on PoD 70 is like 70% throttle on PoD 99 (normal), therefor each value of the TPS (0-99) is worth 70% of what it was stock and the pedal is softer, thou the tune is the same. But 99% of the time I dont touch PoD. \

I run TQ1 in the winter, and PoD 70 :)

I doubt it will even let you start the download, MADS does a good job of making it idiot proof, i. e. won't put S67ME on my JR if I download the wrong program, also keeps people from buying a Jr and trying to put S06 on it.

Since you have an S04 you are kinda stuck anyhow, no PoD and no UDC.

It may not let me, I understand not being able to load S06 software on a JR and the like. But I have been able to go back and forth from old software to new, and vice versa, where other folks without S04's and 03/04 trucks could not.

I really do like my current tune(vin-locked tntr), sw6 and my options(tm3,tq1,shift defuel stock, splmtr 250mph, rp2) has my truck at 650hp/1200tq. I would like better fuel mileage, it is averaging 16 mpg, and better spoolup off the line.

Adding fuel down low does not help in the lag I am trying to eliminate, so it has to be timing, that's where UDC would be nice. As far as mileage it has been gradually declining, some cause is winter blend fuel. I have been concerned about a faulty injector, there is no fuel in my oil and my truck runs great, except for an occasional throttle hang. Wonder if a cylinder contribution test may point something out... what exactly happens with this test, I mean how do they isolate each cylinder with a DRB tool?

Anyone else have "unknown software" error after upgrading to POD?

Never mind. Loaded everything on a different computer and it works. Now to figure out why it doesn't work on the first computer
