Whom has done one ? I have a 98 and I see the kits ,but have been told that you can use Dana 60 parts from a Ford if so what is the parts needed and what year ?

There are a few kits out there. I chose Spyntecs and have no regrets. There are some custom pieces like the hubs and spindles that prevent piecing a kit together on the cheap. Search it here. Very popular topic with 3gens. Same idea.

Just so I'm looking at this correct . She replaced ,used the Ford stub axels knuckles, and spindle and hubs brakes and callipers ??

Yes she did. I actually looked into doing this a few years ago when I first came across the gals post. Early 90's Ford Dana axles are not as common in my parts as I would have thought. I did find one in a salvage yard and don't remember the price off the top of my head but by the time I added all the necessary seals, brake assemblies and universals to the cost of the axle I was approaching similar cost of the Free spin kits that are available. Now if you can come across an axle on the cheap then it would be economical to do.

One thing to consider is the Ford Dana axle is slightly wider than the Dodge Dana. Something like 3/4" on each side. Not sure how that would look in the flesh.

I'm going to do some checking bi got a friend whom has a boat load of Ford stuff , I wish the Dynatreacks and SpinTech were a little cheaper I really think $1500 is can bit rich at $800 would be on the high side in my opinion

I bought a Spyntec kit several years ago. zero problems with it. i tend to leave the hubs locked in for long periods in the winter months unless im going on a long trip with no issues. milage went up slightly in the summer. I had to replace wheel bearings and U joints anyway so half of my kit was technically paid for anyway and i figured the less wear and tear/ milage increase would hopefully make up the extra cost difference. on a plus side the new wheel bearings are around $15 instead of 300 should they ever go out.

$1800...ouch!

While I would love to have manual hubs you can buy alot of unit bearings for that kinda money...I just replaced the OEM's in my 98 last spring. Even if I were to get half as long out of the Timkens I replaced them with I'll be doing well.

Add the ease of servicing the front brakes now, correct? The rotors are now hub piloted instead of pressed. Correct? Great kit and worth the $$ IMHO. The 2gen caps look great modded too.

You are correct. 99 and prior rotors and hubs are pressed together. 00 they smartened up and changed to slip on rotors.

It really is a great kit, I don't mean to down play it at all. It's the way these trucks should come from the factory.

Yes, wasn't sure when the switch was or the op truck. Does the kit on an earlier truck fix the pressed rotor issue?

I'd like to know what the measurement is ? My guess is there using OEM parts ,but the question is just which ones ? Im thinking iuts either Chevy or International ,I'm told the Ford ones are 3/4" wife and it appears to need to use Ford brake parts ,No body has commited if Gen 1 Dodge or 70-80's GM will work or not Once this is know it will be cake to put together just $1800 is insane !!!

Regarding the early Spyntecs, the spindle and hub are custom. Everything else is Dana 60. This is why many complained about the hub protruding so far. The stock D60 outer shaft was used. Right after I bought mine, they came out with the shortys. They shortened the hub and shaft. It's no longer a D60 length. Now the outer shafts are special. It's very high quality stuff. Price is justified when you look at Solid's other products.

I never seen the first ones ,so I guess it be interesting to see as a hub that sticks but wouldn't be a big deal as the early Dodges had the same issue etc...

Solid Axel are they still available ? I wonder if these are not a actual Ford parts ? Then ? That isn't that bar in my opinion
