I have a 1999.5 3500 truck 4wd auto. I want to put free wheel hubs on it. Problem is all the 99 kits do not support the ABS system for the front axle. The 2000 kits do. When I talk to the customer service reps they tell me the 2000 front axle is different and it won't work on my truck. I thought all the 2nd gen trucks had the dana 60 front axle. Does any one know why the 2000 kit would not work on a 1999.5 truck. Mine was built in November of 99.

If I am following your question correctly, I believe that because 00 - 02 Dodge 4WD 2500 & 3500 diesel pickups came with Dana 60 front axles equipped with odd ball/odd duck 32 spline axles. These may not be compatible with "free wheel" front hub assemblies that typically are 35 spline. Dodge REALLY cheaped out and screwed the customer on this in order to cut the cost of these year trucks and make more profit.

I am in the process of installing an Eaton TruTrac in the Dana 80 rear axle and wanted to install an Eaton TruTrac in the front Dana 60 but the TruTrac for this application is made only for 35 spline axles which GM & Ford have but Dodge screwed the customer on. The ONLY streetable front traction device made and available for this axle to my knowledge is the Yukon Dura Grip limited slip differential.

Yes, I could change over to 35 spline axles which is VERY expensive. A Spin Tech hub system is about $1800 and a set of 35 spline axles, bearings, seals, and other change over parts/materials is not cheap either, prices vary depending upon the axle sets and sellers.

These won't work? https://www.dynatrac.com/free-spin-...-and-3500-with-warn-hubs-and-without-abs.html

spyntec comes with the 35 spline stub axle . The kit has all the bearings and seals . Everything from the u joint out gets replaced with this kit. The Dynatrac does not support the ABS system. The only problem I could see using the 2000 is the brake rotor alignment.

So you have the 00-02 axle? I guess I misunderstood. The Dynatrac does support the ABS for the '94-'99.5.

I realize that. The 00 - 02 Dana 60 for Dodge Rams do not. They have 32 spline axles. I am not sure of the compatibility between the 32 & 35 spline axles and stub shafts.
