2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Freeze 12

Has anyone used Freeze 12 as a substitute for R-12. I think I might give it a try, but wondered if I could get some feedback. (Its not for the '99)

I have used it with good results but if you look at the chemical name (dichloro---whatever) it seems to me that it is the same as 134a.

I bought a case of Freeze 12 to use in my grand daughters Cougar, and my old 88 Chevy Caprice the instructions say to purge out all the old, but I just slammed it right in on top of the R-12 and worked like a charm. One would have to be careful after mixing the two so that one did not contaminate someone's garage recovery equipment after mixing the two.

Duracool is compatable with R12 or 134 and cools better than R12

A guy I work with still has a whole case of it... bought out the store, when he found out R12 was going outlaw for the common man. I've tried getting some from him, but he wants crazy money for a can.

R-12 would have been the way to go, but its too dang hard to come by these days.



I got the Freeze 12 in last night. The system has been down for quite a while and was flat. I pulled a vacuum and it held, so I charged. I am not familiar with the pressures with this stuff and I needed a 90° swivel for the high side so all I got was the low.



The ambient was 72° and only got between 42° and 49° out if the center register. The system called for 40oz and it got 36oz. The suction pressure was only about 16 psi.



I am going to track down a 90° HS fitting and see what I have tomorrow.



What have you guys seen for pressures and temps with Freeze 12???
