96 King of The Road tow with 3/4 Ton?

Anyone towing a gooseneck dump trailer?

Ok... if this is a dumb idea I need to hear it.

I'm am thinking of (in the not too distant future) finding a reasonably priced FL-60 or 70 with a 16' or 24' box on it... and converting the box to living quarters. I've done some reading on bus conversions and I don't see how this would be drastically different.

Reason I am leaning this way is I'm almost at the end of a dovroce (2-3 weeks before it's over) and I have to give up my '04 3rd gen dodge :{ . I know I will eventually want to get another cummins truck (of some sort) BUT will not have the funds to go with a new truck... and for the money I Have seen the used FL's go for less than a used dodge (some with under 200K miles and under $10K in price) and the FL can haul/tow more and should last as long or longer especially since I would ot be driving it on a regular basis.

I want to think about doing this to be able to tow a car trailer for my jeep (or daily driver) as I think I can do it for less money than buying a used truck, and a camper, and still not have a place to carry my jeep.

Ideas, suggestions... is this stupid???

I figured they are actually built by some manufacturers. Man that would be nice!

That's pretty much what I want to do... BUT do it myself because of the cost. I guess it would be a Class B ?? (or would it be Class A?)

Another question... I know a LOT of folks in my area build their horse trailers with living quarters. is there anywhere on the web I can look at floor plans so as to get an idea for measurements etc?? I know I can look at actual RV/motorhome floor plans but they may differ some from a conversion?

I know I may be asking some basic questions but I intended to tow with my dodge... but didn;t intend on having it for a year and then having to get rid of it. So I have very little experience with RV's and/or motorhomes.

The truck itself would be a Class 6 probably. But as far as a drivers lisence is concerned, a Class B would probably be enough. Since you say that it would be a daily driver, mileage will stink for that.

Once the conversion is done, register it as a motorhome. Less insurance sost and no special drivers license needed then. I did it with a topkick I had and saved big on insurance.

to heck with the frightshaker... go for the GOOD STUFF... this is my buddy Todd's race car hauler... check out Cobra for more pics and other projects.
