I just had to share this.....

A neighbour/friend across the street has a cousin who does "scrap work" ... engines, trannies, diffs, etc... as a matter of fact, his exhaust system is made from hacked/chopped/welded 4" driveshaft tubes... . see what I mean here... .

He has a nasty, butt ugly old Dodge with different colored fenders, tailgate, rust ... . man this thing would give you nightmares... right down to the hand operated nasty cherry picker on the back.

BUT... under the hood sits a sweet ole 440 CID recently rebuilt, and well tuned... .

It seems out front of my place there is a very long rubber mark that this guy saw. My neighbour told him it was Bob with the 6 cylinder diesel that did it..... "no way, no how" was the reply.....

Well, here I am rolling along our Lougheed Hwy for those who are familiar... it has some nice long stretches with big sweeping turns. .

I was on my way out to visit a member/guy at the eastern end of town...

I'm beedling along about 50 mph, and ahead I see 'ole Nick pull out onto the highway and move into the outside/curb lane.

As I pull along side we wave and smile..... I am slowly pulling past him, no hurry... .

When he is about flush with the tailgate I hear the ole hog motor start to rev and he's quickly pulling level and past me, a huge grin on his wiskered old face. . :D:D:D

When his tailgate is flush with my front bumper I realized what he was doing so, off we go... ...

I layed into it hard and the sweet sound of whistling boost climbs up and I'm starting to "fire pottery" under the hood... "Our Lady of Acceleration" don't fail me now... . :D:D:D quickly making the transition to HOB mode (hat on backwards) and SEDC (super eclipse death cloud) we're into an old fashion catch me if you can...

By 70 mph, I was again one full length ahead of Nick, and kept opening up the gap... 42psi, 1300*F and rockin on...

He quit about 90 mph as close as I can figure and, I finally bailed at 100 mph dead on the money,,,,, man what a hoot to see him pull up beside me and just shake his head, smile with all 4 of his teeth and give me the thumbs up... .

We ended up a good 5-6 lengths apart at the end... . Thank you PDR and DTT... ... SWEETTT... . !!!!

'Bungle in the jungle' boys..... :D:D

Reminds me of something that happened this past winter. On my way home from work, I come upon my buddy driving down the highway in his bronco. I get on side of him..... I look at him..... he looks back and gives a nod. We hit it... ... he drops back pretty quick. Somehow, his headlights got real dim  Well, I almost missed my exit I was laughing so hard. He calls me up about 10 minutes later. Seems the bronco wanted no part of that thrashing and the engine let go shortly afterward. :-laf :-laf

Hummmm... ..... what's all this bungling going on up theyah in the northwest? ;) :p

Great Stuff!!!:) I enjoy stories like that. My li'll brother is a big block gasser kinda guy and has the "diesel is only suited for use in off-road equipment mentality" Have plans to "demo otherwise" when he makes his next appearance up here in the north. :D

Can recall a particular story from WWII involving a young lieutenant who's plane had suffered structural damage over occupied France. It was early in the war and the Jerrie's thought this new plane, Republic P47 [ the Thunderbolt] would be a push-over. The 47 is at least twice the size of any front line fighter up to that time. So this hot- rod-ace-of-a-german pilot pulls in behind this damaged plane flying toward the Enlish coast. Follows the damaged plane awhile. The young lieutenant doesn't know what to expect. The hot-rod ace soon realizes the plane he is following is damaged and will not take any evasive action. Thinking he is moments away from his next kill he takes his time. The German pulls up to point-blank range. Our young pilot lowers the seat to afford full protection from the armor plate. Soon a steady rain of . 30 caliber bullets begin to pour into the rugged 'bolt. Metal tearing,chopping away. The German overshoots, turns, then comes around again. To his amazement this wreck of a plane is still in the air. Sends in another volley of hail stones, overshoots the flying wreck and comes around once again. This time he scratches his head in bewilderment. Sends in another volley, flys past, comes in around again. Now he's :mad: and:confused: and:{ Our friend in the 'bolt is:eek: One more time: he shoots, sending pieces of the 'bolt earthward. By now this hot-rod pilot is looking THROUGH the plane. :{

Only thing left to do is to; pull along side the 47, looks it over, smiles, slowly raising his right hand he salutes our young friend, then returns to France.

Oh,BTW, the young lieutenant returns to his HOME base in England, lands his plane. Crew chief couldn't count the number of holes. Did I mention the plane was also struck with 20-mm

cannon

For those who wish to talk horse power lets sing to the tune of the Pratt & Whitney round motor:D

Scott [shoulda been a history teacher but got bit by the diesel bug] aka Greenleaf
