In TDR #58, Andy talks about installng temperature sending units in the manual transmission for a temperature guage. Does anyone have any ideasm on how to get the unit into the manual transmission? Andy also talks about 8usijnf a rotary selection switch to attach more than one sending unit to a temperature guage. Does anyone know of a source for this rotary switch?

I have temp senders in front & rear diff's, manual transmission, transfer case and engine oil. I have the front & rear diffs switched to one temp guage. I drilled and tapped the PTO cover before installing Fast coolers which are already set up for temp senders. The souble temp senders to a two way switch is simple. If you need a diagram on how to wire it up let me know.

I did the same thing but with the fast coolers and I used west tech guages and their rotary selection switch.

Ah the editorial staff :) went and put words on the page I didn't write. . I don't use a rotary switch like you discuss, but it would likely work just fine.

You can source a tiny center on-off-on switch at Radio Shack etc. that will work out well. (you can usually find a place for it on the a-pillar mount etc. ) The switch is not capable of carrying very much current. But for this application little is required. You will also need some 20-22 gau. stranded wire, small dia. solder . 035 or less and a low/med heat soldering gun/iron for reliable wire to switch connection. If you to be able to remove the switch then add some disconnects/pigtails to the wires a few inches below your soldered connection.

RadioShack.com - Cables, Parts & Connectors: Component parts: Switches: SPDT Center Off High-Current Mini Toggle Switch

Wire the "S" terminal on your gauge harness to the center pin on the switch and your sender wire from your sender/sensor from the trans. to one of the "on" terminals on the switch and the diff. temp sender or other sender to the other on terminal.

Depending which way you have connected it will read two sensors/senders depending which on position you have selected.

Good luck

Andy

You don't think the momentary "disconnect" switching from sender to sender would hurt the guage??
