One week ago today I replaced my four year old batteries. two days after that I smelled electrical fire. I thought to myself "Well, its time for my insurace to take care of you from here ya mule" Well unfortunately it did not burn down but I did find the problem. The charging wire on the alternater came loose somehow and burned the plastic cover on the alternator. I FIXED IT, well maybe not, I woke up yesterday and my tail lights were on. I go out and tried everything under the sun to get them to turn off excect disconnect the batteries. Eventually they went out by themselves. Today they are on again and now my left turn signal does not work:mad: I have pulled every single fuse out at once and they are still on. . SOMEBODY GIVE ME DIRECTION:confused:

Your truck does not like you.

There may be more burned wires than just the plastic on the alternator. Electrical gremlins are a nightmare. You may need to buy the shop manual for your truck and trace the wiring diagram, or take it to a specialist.

Sorry.

Shorter batteries ??

I read somewhere that if you put a shorter battery in and screwed the battery hold down in it would hit a wiring loom under the battery box, causing mass problems.

Are the new batteries shorter??

Just a thought. Good luck!

Steve

I do believe i put the proper size of batteries in, they were the same size i took out and the size chrysler calls for. Today everything is normal so far, my blinker even works:confused:

Disconnect both positive terminals from the batteries and touch the driver side positive cable to a good ground. Sometimes the PCMs get a stray electron up the circuit card. It worked on my 98 Caravan.
