Carli Suspension just came out with their new Hydraulic Bump Stop kits for the front and rear of the 3rd Gen trucks. I can tell you guys from experience that these things make a huge difference out in the desert. Now guys can have the best of both worlds. You can have a nice ride on the street and then when you go off roading the bump stops are there as a secondary suspension to prevent hard bottoming. These are way better than a heavy spring that you have to put up with a harsh ride everyday and they will out generate the amount of force of any spring on the market today for the Dodges. Thereby preventing hard bottom outs.

Who would of thought there was such a large # of people wanting to pound on 50k trucks :-laf

Bob

Jeez Bob, 40-50 grand for off-road toy with AC, Stereo and get's 20 MPG is a lot cheaper than one of those Northstar Powered 4-seat buggies that people are jump'n across the All-American Canal! Now that you got the front axle all beefed up, maybe the first Diesel Ram to jump the canal is in your future! :-laf:-laf:-laf

Gents,

I'm not bashing, but asking an honest question. Historically, most hydraulic bump stops have been mounted the other way. Even past pictures I've seen from Carli. Are you guys using an IFP in there?

thanks

well, it really doesnt matter which way you mount them. the only reason people mount them with the shrader valve up, is so they can adjust the nitrogen pressure, without removing the bumpstop. if you were to charge it up side down, you would have oil and stuff to contend with, and you wouldnt be able to charge it.

IFP's don't work in hydro bumps, you would just cavitate them all the time and a big part of the benefit of the bumpstops is the rising rate which an IFP would take away a lot of.

Yes traditional bump stops are meant to run with the shaft down because they are technically emulsion shocks. So if you were to take an off the shelf bump stop and run it upside down the piston would be out of the oil for the first part of its travel. Luckily for us Fox made us our own part # that has a special can length, shaft length, and fill volume just so that they can be run upside down.

Hope this clears things up for you.
