I am pretty sure I read somewhere how you can put a switch in to disable the front axle so that it will not lock up the axle when you shift into four low. The idea being that you can use four low to back heavy loads without putting so much stress on the drive train.

If anybody knows how to do this, I would appreciate some details.

Thanks!

2 wheel

Do a search on 2 wheel low !!or something similiar. Also I beleive that Piers has the kit all made up for that ! Could be easier to just buy it than make it . :D

Check this page on the Dave Fritz site. Scroll down to AXLE / DRIVESHAFT RELATED > Front Axle.

I'm running the Bob V setup shown in this thread on my model year 2000 5-speed Ram.

I bought an inside the cab cable control for mine from NAPA. Works well and can shift into and out of 4/wd on the fly. Cost about $250... not the cheapest way to go, but seemed like the strongest and most dependable.
