Thanks to all who replied to my post about the turning of the front axle tube in the differential housing.
It is possible,Ive done it yesterday!I’ve made a jig, mounted it at the steering knucle, and fixed the differential housing using a chunk of log.
Attached two cables on a jig,one at the top of it, one at the bottom. Applied the tension to the cables using two tractors and by the winch at one of the tractors applied force to the lower cable. The axle turned in the right direction. The man operating the winch said, the force was equal to some 5 tons. Now I have to fix it and drill the welded points and weld them again.
The welded points in the differential housing are VERY hard to drill. What bit to use?
If anyone else has the similar problem -it’s possible to recover the front axle!
Ask me, and I’ll tell you the details!
