I had to come to a complete stop before I could go from 4H to 2H.

Then you had something wrong with the CAD... they are shift-on-the-fly as well, both into and out of 4wd. I for one have logged over a million miles on CAD unit-equipped trucks without a single problem.

Ditto. That's exactly what mine did when one of them went out. Felt just like it was in 4wd.

How many miles ya got on it? The axle joints are covered under the 7/70 warranty.

It was about at about 40k. I figured it was a 3/36 item, so I bought greaseable replacements but could not get it apart for anything. (very similar to Rbatelle's plight) After soaking, pounding, prying and cussing for a weekend, I took it to the dealer.

I did manage to get the other side apart (after breaking a couple sockets and extensions with the power steering method) and replaced it myself.

I remember the first one siezed at Thunder in Muncie. I kept soaking it down because I worried it might decide to come apart on or before the trip home.
