Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Front axle puking oil

I have a 98. 5 ram3500 4x4 I changed the front diff oil w/ lucas 85/140 at the correct level. I havnt locked in the front axle but one time since the oil change and noticed small amounts of oil creeping out the vent hose mounted up on the inner fenderwell. I've checked for foaming and temperature,all seems normal

I too have had this occure only twice but, I was at about 5k above sea level. The small check valve at the top of the puke-tube might get stuck closed then when we change temperature (due to driving) the slight pressure build up in the axle housing (due to the "stuck" vent) finally blows-off and yes... . it pukes a little bit. Others have informed me that it's not critical...

Mine did it thas summer pulling Whie Pass in WA state, Dad had heard of this and said he read to leave oil level down 1\4 inch.

Take a look at where the vent tube is connected to the axle. It is on one end not on the pumpkin. I was parking with that end downhill for awhile and had the same trouble. Backing into the spot cured it

Don't worry about it. My '99 has done it a handful of times, mostly in the winter. I checked my diff level and it was still fine.

Just make sure that your breather is not clogged, or you might take a chance at blowing out an axle seal.
