Hi, I have a bad u joint and need to pull and replace the pass side axle, I finally got the axle out and the u joint replaced. Now I want to install the axle and when looking up the housing I see that the locking collar has slid down and the axle will not go in. How do you get the collar back in place? Also what is the torque on axle nut? Thanks for any help

If you are talking about the axle disconnect collar, remove the disconnect assembly and move the collar into position. Disconnect cover bolts are 16 ft/lb. Axle nut 263 ft/lb.

I actually just did the same on my sons truck. Found out that if you engage 4x4 before you pull axle this would not happen.
Just for future guys doing it. In order to fix it you can also insert a pipe and hold the collar up while someone engages 4x4.
I ended up taking the cover off and repositioning the sleeve. Could have saved some time had I put it into 4x4 first.....
I also did all 4 balljoints and new hubs/bearings.....

Thanks for the reply. I did the same thing with the pipe and then put in 4x4. If you do this job put it in 4x4 before you pull the passenger side axle.
