Had 4 wheel parts do gear change and now drivers side front axle seal is leaking. How long should I give it to fix itself, before I give up and take it in.

Jack up the passenger side real high... letting the small area past the seal in the axle tube drain, on the driverside. That should help get out any extra gear lube left in there. I let mine go for 2 mounths, keeping an eye on the fluid level. I gave up and changed my seals, but i have heard of some seals "gumming up" and holding lube after a couple of thousand miles.
