Ball joints shot at 60,000 and ruined the hubs taking them apart. What a sad truck this is turning out to be. Lift pump, transmission, clearance lights leaks, ball joints, what next? :--)
I know Dog... just being sarcastic. . I think there problem may be in the parts, just because of the guy's I run with, one replaced them at 24. 000, one is just now replacing them at 85,000. The one at 24,000 has a V-10 in it. I have owned a lot of trucks over the years and there always seems to be someting, sometimes minor, sometimes major.
Did you guys notice any verticle movement in the ball joints? My 02 has 30k on it. I noticed about 1/8" verticle slop with the wheel off the ground and the wife pushin on the prybar. I didnt see a spec for verticle slop in the book. Is there one?
Mine had way more than that up & down. Didn't have much pulling top & bottom of wheel. Felt good driving down the road. Tires started wearing a bit funny.
i change them by myself..... i mean by myself. with a hand from somone else they are not that hard to change. change the u joint while you are there. let napa press out and press in new ones for you. you will need lots of tools that is the only problem. otherwise your should be able to find somone to change them for 700-800 bones.
the govt estimates that americans spend 12 billion bones a year b/c of bad roads.
