2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Front brake hose replacement cost 01 3500 SHOCKED! Any options?

I have a 2001 3500 quad cab with ABS and disc brakes the dealer quoted me 885 BUCKS for the front brake hose. THat is to buy the part ONLY I saw the hose for 550 on a Dodge parts website The hose starts at the caliper and goes to a block on the frame. The dealer said original supplier for Dodge went belly up so new supplier had to retool and that is the insane price now. He was afraid to even tell me. Any after market options? Thanks

It's similar to the brake line I just replaced on my right front. You have some extra hard tubes in the center. Price was under $20, from NAPA. Made in China, but quality seemed OK. Takes about 5 minutes to change and then a bit more time to bleed the brake lines.

few stories I got is that tooling was sent to Brazil after the original company went under here I think. Company in Brazil went under and all drawings and tooling was siezed by the government. I went to mydodgeparts.com and they said new line was available for 65. 00 but I had to order it on line. Part number didn't work it may be to new.



Then EGR called back so I ordered two Front SS lines for 199. 00 and 49 for over night shipping to be done with this problem. So that is the solution and it was better than 885 from dealer. My mechanic told me his cost was 708 from the 885 list he was quoted if I want him to get the line. Guess I'll brake out the tools tomorrow. Thanks!

You'll be happy with the EGR ss parts. They'll fit properly and firm up the pedal some.

Try RockAuto.com . Front brake hoses are $31. 00 for 2 wheel drive and $41. 00 to $43. 00 for 4 wheel drive. Change both. If one went the other is soon to follow. Type in TURBODIESEL in the coupon area and get the 5% TDR discount. Long Island dealerships blow.

tried NAPA for kicks but they said none available. Once you tell them it is steel rubber steel rubber they say OEM only. I'll look in rockauto for kicks also.



rockauto was 50 bucks no code. I have the EGR and will have them tomorrow which is what counts good to hear their stuff fits. Keep ya posted thanks all!

On my 96', I went to a local place that makes custom hydraulic lines. Brought in the bad passenger front line. Only took a few minutes to make a new one. Find a local place that makes hydraulic lines. I would've ordered it at the time, but delivery would've 1-3days out.
