Front Brake Pad Recommendation??

Challenger- I tried greasing the slides the calipers ride on and that made the situation worse. Here we have roads that are made up of shell rock (like coral) and sand and this mixture would cement the calipers to the slides. I polished the slides with a high speed pad and emory cloth and greased the slide pins good. With this combo on my 4 diff dodges I have increased the pad life 400 % to 40,000 miles.

Does anyone have a good driver's inside Autozone Carbon Metalic pad that they don't need? Three of mine are like new after about 50 thousand, except for that inside one. It wore quickly because the rotor was gauled up when I put it on and I didn't want to take it off to have it turned.

I have over 80K miles on the stockers. Still plenty meat left on them.

BTW, I got the "lifetime" pads for the wifes car from Pep boys, now that theyre worn out, they tell me theyre not warrantied for life!!

Got to tell you the story of my brother-in-law and PepBoys... . took his suburban in for tune-up--they convinced him he needed carburator---order new one--took old one off. . (you can see where this is going!!)... rolled truck out of bay--next day new carb comes in they send 'the kid' out to get truck into bay--he jumps in hits key--pumps gas all over the place and spark sets if off... my brother-in-law gets call--we have small problem--please come down to shop!?! They settled with him--he was happy--don't think I would have been for amount offered... . I don't buy at Pep Boys any more--needless to say!!!! R, J. B.

Performance Friction carbon metallics from Autozone dont seem to stop as well as the stock pads for me. I wonder about the extreme taper front and rear on these pads that leave about half the pad are as the previous pads.

Maybe they havent seated themselves good yet. I did about 3 or 4 good hard stops to wear them to match the rotors. They have a more consistant feel than stock, and are a little stronger.



I know that after you heat them up time, like at the bottom of a steep downhill, they will stop very strong.



Mine have been better than stock, also did not turn rotors. That was at about 60k miles. Have had them for about 10k now, and will go with these the next time around.
