I have a stock 2005 2500 4wd Cummins.

The inside front brake pads are wearing at a much faster rate than the outside pads. Inside pads almost gone. Outside pads look new. The truck has 28,000 miles. Is this normal? If not is there a solution to this problem? The Chilton manual recommends that the rear pads be replaced when front pads are replaced regardless of condition. Is this true?

Thanks, Jakester

The inner and outer pads should wear at about the same rate. The caliper should "slide" to allow this. Sounds like yours are only wearing the piston side pads, and the caliper may be seized. I would inspect closer, you may not be getting as much braking action as you should.
