In all the years of Brake jobs I did, I have never seen this one.
My New (rebuilt) caliper starts to squeal after about 1 hour of driving. Then it will continue to squeal every trip after that once they heat up.
When I installed the new calipers and PFCM pads, the anti-squeal that AutoZone sold me was marked "combination anti-squeal, caliper slide grease” In other words, it was just grease. I figured "things change, this may work better". Anyway, I get this real bad squeal after an hour, so I pull the caliper to clean the pads and install REAL anti-squeal (the type that gets hard).
What to my wondering eyes do appear, but the caliper is rubbing against the top of the rotor! Never have I seen this before, but its even wearing 2 lines from the top of the rotor, into the caliper! I applied anti-squeal and put it back together. Of course the guy who sold me the calipers will make them (or it) good, but I have never seen this before. Yes, it is still the factory rotors.
After putting it back together, the quiet lasted about 2 hours, then again it started squealing. I figure calaper is close, but after the slide greese gets hot, the calaper must move down into the mount and start hitting the rotor.
The caliper does seem to sit down into the mounts further then the original one. Guess I will get another one and hope it works better.
