I've had enough of this factory brake system. I've tried all of the temporary fixes and I want to fix it for good. There has to be something out there that will take care of my problem (pulling, short brake life, no braking power). Any help would be greatly appriciated, I need to get something done ASAP!

Thanks Dowg. Are you running these? I've known about them and they look nice but thats a lot of money to spend if they don't fix the problem completely.

Gator,

I've been running slotted rotors and pads from KVR for about the last year. Much better stopping power. I've also increased the rear brake cylinders to the GM type (I believe the boar is 1/16" bigger than what my 3500 had originally). Also, be sure to flush your brake fluid yearly and keep adjusting your rear brakes. I do a rear brake adjust at every oil change.

I have been running EGR for about two years now. Never sorry I got them. You get blueprinted calipers to stop hang ups, slotted rotors, all braided kevlar lines, oversize rear pistons in mine with carbon/kevlar shoes. Still have to adjust rears often but the stop power is much improved. He also sends higher temp fluid to prevent boil or "vapor lock" (fade).

front brakes pads

Replaced my front pads about a month ago; everything seemed fine for a while and then they started grabbing really bad. They only seem to do it early in the morning and after its been sitting for a while. After the first couple stops or if I pump on them a few times they seem to be fine. They are the OEM equilivent from Auto Zone. Anyone had a similar experience and if so what is the fix?

I have had what you are describing for a while. If you have rear drum brakes then more than likely there was some rust build up on the drums and until you rub it off the stopping could be abrupt. I have not heard of a way to stop this other than converting to rear disks, which is way more money than I want to spend on a problem like that.

Well I got the EGR's on the truck and did not put in the new rear cylinders (30mm Chevy 1 ton) because of a bad rear axle seal that I'll have to take care of next weekend. Results... ... . we flushed the whole system and bled it for what seemed like forever and the brakes don't pull any more but they will hardly stop the truck. I don't know what else to do. We bled all the fittings TWICE per the service manual (no air bubbles) and I still have worse performance than before. I guess I'll call Glenn tomorrow at EGR and see what can be done but something is definately not right.
