Cleaning the caliper brackets is a requirement here with all the road treatments and year round humidity. If I have time to leave a vehicle down for the night I'll strip them down in the evening and take the brackets to work and sand blast them. Then puff can a couple of coats of high temp paint.

I don't know if it's standard procedure everywhere,but every shop I know here includes new caliper brackets as part of a brake job.

A decently reman’d caliper with bracket is the way to go. I haven’t seen an ordeal like this in- I don’t think ever. Usually just chucking the shims, a little chipping or wire brush, and it all goes back together nice. And that rotor! That must have had a temperature shock.
