Is it a torx, and if so what size is it? Gonna check brake pads tomorrow. See truck in sig. Thanks

It is 3/8" hex, not torx. Just an ordinary hex key is all you need. A socket is needed if you want to torque it when putting it back.

The 2000 and newer caliper bolts are a torx head.

It's either a T45 or T50 can't remember which.

At least DC changed something on the fron calipers. Wonder if the torx bolt helps the caliper realease any better:-laf Just replaced the 2nd set since October and less than 20 k ago - at least they're lifetime and free - new pads, & bolts to boot. Of course now that the front are squared away the rear are driving me nuts. Check out my thread "Hippity Hoppity rear when braking". Looks like it's time for drums, I hope to be speaking w/Sam P. Monday if he has time. Catch ya down the road.

Thanks MikeR, it was T45. Pulled them off today, still had plenty left. 78,933 miles on the stock pads, the last 10k with an exhaust brake. Maybe another 15 to 20k more left on them.

Check those caliper bolts from time to time. One of mine worked it's way loose I noticed it when I changed the brake fluid. I have absolutely no idea how long it had been that way. :--)

It is a Torx. Watch out, I believe it is a t47, odd size though. I say be careful, DC has started to use a different style of torx fitting. It is smaller and fatter at the base. OTC is the only manufacturer of these special Torxs. They are really expensive when compared to a Lsyle Torx set. A tool specialty shop should be able to get them, as long as they can get OTC tools. It is still a Torx fitting, just different enough so you have to buy more specialty tools.
