Anybody run into loss of front channel audio on the OEM AM/FM? This in a 2000 2500 QC 4x4.

Mine's gone most of the time, but once in a while it pops back cleanly for a few seconds. Can't find any lose connections. Rear channel's fine.

Who repairs factory radios, these days?

Mine does the same thing on the right front, I think its the tweeter though. Probably much cheaper to replace the whole unit.

I believe they have a factory amp for the front speakers. This could be your problem also. I remember when I put my radio in I had to connect a wire to turn on the factory amp because I didn't have any sound without it. I think it was blue, but it's been a long time. If your radio isn't telling the amp to turn on, or that wire is broken your speakers won't work.

Right, on my last dodge (with the infinity speakers) you have to hook the pwr antenna lead up to the speakers, this provides the built in amp in each speaker with power.

But what we are talking about are the stock head units, they seem to lose one side or the other, I haven't done any trouble shooting. But I notice my right front comes back on when I hit a bump (tweeter) so I assume its a connection problem, but I don't know for sure, since my left doesn't work at all.

Had the same thing on my 98 2500HD... turned out to be the radio ( Infinity System with all the damn speakers, CD and Cassette... they warrantee'd it... I was lucky on that one...
