I have one that is leaking. I was told there is an inner and an outer seal or something like that. I was quoted about $2000. oo for the job. They said at least a day and a half to change as all rads, coolers etc. need to be removed, camshaft pulled and on and on. For now I just put up with the leak as it is not very bad, just messy so I get down under and wash it off once in a while. I really don't know any more about it. Hopefully some one in the know will enlighten us.

just replaced the front seal on my 03,you can do it with just removing the damper. not enough room to drive the seal with a hammer,but if you start the seal on the crank snout you can use the tone ring to press the seal in

Someone had better find a different repair shop !!!:eek:

Silverbullet;

Do as was out lined in the referral page or ask questions of someone who has done this repair--but-- don't do as John suggested with the lube on the crank. Install it dry, it is Teflon coated and this teflon transferes to the crank and is the proper lube between the crank and seal. NO OIL. [yes I am yelling]

Have fun gettin your hands dirty. Never have hear of these being installed from the outside, and with the dampener to push it in place.

i installed mine when the cover was off the engine, i ruined one and got the second in. , it was not leaking at the time, just cheap insurance when going back together
