When I did my KDP and replaced the crank seal in the front cover I noticed there was rear on the crank snout and had concerns about the seal lasting. My truck had 355,000 on it then. Now 75,000 miles later it is really leaking and I want to go ahead and do the service sleeve. But reading on the board it takes a special tool to drive it on and don't even think about attempting an install without it. It is PN 3824500 and is about $200 just for the tool. I know it would be cheaper than taking the truck in and having it done.

Has anyone dealt with installing a crank service sleeve and been able to come up with the tool anywhere?

I found a solution. . . Timken makes a service sleeve for Cummins and it comes with a slick little install cap. Timken PN KWK99248 & cost me $30 at a local parts retailer. Here's a pic More Information for TIMKEN KWK99248

Most of the time I buy Cummins & Fleetguard parts for my engine, but glad I called around this time and found out about this option!
