My Brother in Law's truck has the front u-joint going out on the CV looking joint coming out of his transfer case. Is this u-joint replacable on its own, or do I need to rebuild the CV joint? If it is replaceable, what is th part #?

Truck is a 2003 4wd, NV5600, longbed, quadcab with about 110K miles.

Thanks.

Had to have my entire front shaft redone, no one as of a short time back makes a greasable double cardan for these trucks. I pull mine out every 25-30k miles and take it back to the shop that made it and they pull it apart and relube everything for me. :) Don't have the invoice handy, so I can't tell you part numbers, but I do remember it cost right around $500 to have the entire shaft redone. Holbrook huh? Just came through there twice since last night, will be coming through twice again tomorrow!!! freakin, clutch hydraulics took a dump again in Albuq/ early this morningm rebnted a gasser to get home now get to do the trip again !!!

Replacement joints are Precision #235 with grease fittings in the caps.

Or are you talking about the center ball in the double cardan unit? If so, that's not replaceable (as far as I know). Shaft will need to be replaced, I believe.

You can buy a whole new shaft from the dealer for around $200. The one I just bought has a greasable double cardan. The front joint is not greasable. My local driveline shop said they couldn't rebuild it for that.

I don't envy you. That trip from Albuquerque to Vegas is bad enough to do once, but to redo the trip, that is right there at the bottom of the list for things to do. Best of Luck on the clutch hydraulics. I might have driven home with no clutch pedal just to avoid making that trip twice.

I hope I con't have to replace the center ball. It looks like it may just be the front cardan. rabattle, thanks for the part number. That should be to one.

$200 from the dealer is some sort of steal for that shaft, but I hope I don't have to go that far.

Thank you for the help.

you can purchase center yoke kits and center ball only kits

call Eric at Six States tell him Jeff from Adrenaline sent you we get all our drive shafts and parts from them. i think the last center ball kit was about 10-15 bucks or so 1800-960-4677
