I am just working on getting my shafts figured out right now too. I am going to go with a 1410 front shaft setup without the CV-joint (with my 6-speed there is only a slight angle downward so the cv isn't needed) And I am going with a 1480's for the rear shaft. About the rear shaft... what is everyone running for them? single piece or two piece with the carrier? I am going towards a single shaft but will be pushing 80" which is more than the 60" recomded but we will see how it goes. Anyone with a quad-cab long box running a single shaft? vibration problems???

What I have heard, is that singles will hold horsepower, but not torque. I'm not sure how much sense this makes. But I'm pretty sure that you will find plenty of one pieces in high horse cars, but not in heavy duty aplications like trucks. Take that for what its worth, but thats what I hear.

Well, once again I am glad that I posted this! I would prefer the one piece shaft but seeing this is still a semi-streetable truck I don't want any vib's from a long shaft! I will talk to Van (Haisleys are also doing my shafts... or getting them anyway for me) and see what he has to say about it. He was pushing for me to keep it the single.

Thanks... Ryan

Why you see the two piece shafts in big trucks is because of the length of the shafts and the gear ratios they are running. I would not be afraid of a one piece in our applications. One advantage about the one piece is that it requires one less u joint shield.

I am wanting a joint for the top of the front driveshaft that I don't have to sell the farm to get.

I would like to get some sort of a 1410 ujoint up top and then use a 1410 down below. All help apprciated.

Well, I had drive shaft superstore build me a front driveshaft this past January... . stock u-joint at the bottom, and a 1350 series CV at the top. I've only engaged it in 4x4 a dozen times or so, only 3 of those times on pavement to get a good launch. Anyway, something went wrong with the center of the cv, and it got in a bind and busted my transfer case. I have KORE suspension, which raised the front 2-3", and driveshaft superstore wants to try eliminating the CV and go with a 1350 u-joint up top. Will I get horrible vibration when launching? My front driveshaft doesn't turn all the time, just when 4x4 is engaged. Any advice is greatly appreciated..... I don't want to tear anything else up.

I'm also looking at the front driveshaft. Are you'all eliminating the slip joint? That doesn't seem practical; so what's going in it's place? I also notice that the lower joint has teeth at the axle housing... all that 'bite' and that tiny little u joint...

Ditto, keep it two piece and make it 1480 series with the larger international carrier bearing.

This international carrier bearing you have. .

How hard is it to get it to work with the stock driveshaft setup?

Thanks in advance.

Ryan, I've swapped in a single in the rear of my Q/C Dually, no vibes at all. And Beefy too... ...
