front drive shaft double carden joint pin

I removed the front drive shaft double carden u-joints and noticed that I ordered the wrong joints. I recently got the right joints and went to install the joints and noticed that I was missing the pin that goes into the ball on the transfer case side and the spring on the drive shaft side.



I have talked to a couple of the dealers around here and none of them know what I am talking about. Is there a part number for this little pin or do I need to order a higher assembly that has the pin?

you need to order the alignment socket rebuild kit. about 35-40 bucks when i last saw one,comes with new roller pins or bearings and grease boot

I had mine repaired for $123. A year later I put in a whole new shaft from DC for $245.

It's a little late now, but just put in a new shaft and be done with it. "Fixing" it won't last.

Just buy a new shaft like Cattletrkr suggests.

When I was looking at rebuilding my shaft, I thought I read that Napa had the rebuild kit for for the socket. But then I just ended up getting a new shaft. But I did hear prices have been going up on the shaft.

No, you need a new shaft because you're also replacing the joints. My experience is very limited, but the 1 shaft that I had go out, only lasted 50K on the rebuild, which was done by professionals. For $245 for a complete new shaft I wouldn't screw around trying to fix the old one.

Maybe your rebuild will last longer I dunno. Just don't expect this to be the last time you have to work on it.

The new shaft should have the stupid little PITA grease fitting so maybe it won't go out again... as a bonus.
