Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Heater grid -which battery?

Always better safe than sorry I guess, but this seems to be a solution looking for a problem. They’re required on a pulling truck, but in all my years I’ve not heard of this failure on a street truck.

I havent seen it on 2nd gens but has most certainly happened on 3rd gens many times, they are a good cheap investment.

I wonder if the reason it's not heard of on second generation truck is because most of the 2nd generation trucks have the CAD unit on the front axle. The truck will rarely ever be going at highway speeds with the front driveshaft turning.

No CAD on my '02.

My '02 has a CAD (build date October 2001). My brother-in-law's '02 truck has no CAD (build date May 2002)

I would be more concerned about an aged front OEM driveshaft with a non-CAD front axle than one with a CAD front axle.
