I have a 2007 single rear wheel 6. 7 six speed manual truck, it went about 60,000 miles before the first driveshaft went out and was unrebuildable, bought a another new one from dealer about 15,000 miles ago, its out now, this truck has no lift or any tuner or high performance equiptment, its all stock. Is there an aftermarket solution to the cv front driveshaft that dont last in these trucks from anybody aftermarket?? The mechanic says the yoke that the driveshaft mounts is wallowed out as well. I was wondering if there was a way to get a driveshaft made that was greaseable and a new front yoke that would be matching, I was told these 2007 have new front diffs and nothing aftermarket is available yet??? I still have my old one and am going to call some places in San Antonio like Planet Pickup, San Antonio Brake and Clutch and maybe one of those driveshaft guys that always advertise in those 4x4 Magazines, i think Tom Woods drivelines or something similar, right now i have pulled the noisy 3 month old shaft off and am running in 2 wheel drive, I sure wish I had been able to buy those locking hubs from Dyna whatever, its crazy to have a fulltime diff in this day and age for sure. it has been pretty muddy down here last 3 months but geees, stock truck, no lift and stock size all terrain tires should not be wiping out the front diff like this, $450 a pop plus install is way to highhhhhhh!!!lol

I have 2 that dont have grease zerks, i am going to see if one of the driveshafts can be rebuildt wiyh a ujoint with a zerk or buy an aftermarket one with a greasesable zerk. been looking on Tom Woods site and he has a updated greaseable cv replacement looks like, will call him in th emorning and see how much and what the deal is, why would they make a driveshaft without a greaeable zerk??? Seems like some trucks have the zerks and some dont????

I have used Tom Woods driveshaft for custom shafts for a LandCruiser in the past. Very good to deal with... ... turn over time is very fast and thier price was half of local driveshaft shop here in Ontario.

I would definitely , at least enquire...

They will tell you exactly where to measure from and your shaft will be bolt in, and greasable.

Thanks for the picture, trying to get one with zerks and buy the needle grease gun to service the shaft, it was dry from all of the driving in the water recently and nobody pulled the skidplate to grease it anyway, going to change up that for sure!!! Still trying to get the shaft rebuilt with greaseable zerks ujoints and hope the cv joint itself is not ruined beyond repair.

I have found a place reccomended by Plantet Pickup in San Antono Tex, its right around the block on 410 loop from my cancer center, the place is called Driveshaft Specialists, he knew exactly what i had probs with and a fix for it, he, sells a rebuilt driveshaft with ujoints with zerks and re blance after checking the ball and shaft for wear, $229 with a new balance 2 day turn around, am going to have him rebuild the other one as well for a spare, the shaft was backordered at 2 dealers at around 500 with shipping for a new one from Dodge. I got a free mini grease gun with a special tube of water resistance grease from the guy too, he says paint the shaft red and write on the skidplate and driveshaft must remove to grease ujoints and the center cv joint with yellow paint so mechs will see it and no i did not get the locking hub update, when my hub went out the spin free kit was 7 days away from me so i had to rebuild what i had to have a truck to drive, that shows the company sucks to me as they dont have enuff inventory stocked to service the most heavily populated dodge 4x4 state in the usa texas. I would have bought them if they had a better supply.

Had to have the front in my '03 redone 3 months back again also. Stocker went 151 k , replacement only 80k, and it had greasable joints !!#@$%! New one has what they call an internal zerk to lube the trunnion or whatever is in the middle of the CV . Should get busy and put it back in, winter be right around the corner !

You have to lube the trunnion at every oil change. I use a mini lithium gun with a small pointed grease tube or a needle. The mini gun works best.

Got the driveshaft picked up, it was rebuild with new greaseable zerks and the cv joint was rebuilt as well, it was rebalanced as well, i looked at it in the box but have have not gotten it out in my hands to make sure its not just had new ujoints with zerks in it and not the cv joint rebuilt?? Will post up when it is bolted on by the tech, this driveshaft suposely now has the greseable cv joint that uses the needle grease gun, i going to paint it and write on the tube instructons on grease 3 places every 3 thousand miles!!!! Now if he can just get my 1th driveshaft rebuilt to like new and updated for a spare that will be the cats meows? Problem with it is that it went 80k miles with no greasing by the dealer, so guys if anybody got one of those free oil changes and grease jobs for lift when they bought there truck you better be ready for the driveshaft to go out asap, pull yours off and have it updated and make sure it has the greaseable zerks on the ujoints and the greadeable cv joint that requires the needle adapter and minigreasegun. This cost me over $1200 with towing and garage time... ... sorry assssssy dodge should have sent them out greasebale and with lock out hubs to keep us going not being dragged up and down the interstate on a tow trucks hook.

Wr04....

you said 3 greasable locations... should be 4 places to grease now. 3 joints and the internal zerk on the CV trunnion, mine does.

No part numbers alas, I wish i had got the old ujoints back and the cv trunion as well to try to source them, i am in a wheelchair and did ask for the old parts back but had a hired hand pick up the shaft and of course did not bother to pick up the box the old parts were in, maybe with the new orginal shaft going in for a rebuild as well for my spare i can try again, this should get broken down where everybody could have the part numbers to buy locally and with the cv trunion with the internal zerk part number as well as well as the correct mini grease gun and correct grease gun needle attachment to keep in the tool box for the grease moneky and oil change peeps, i am painting my truck shaft this afternoon and writing the 4 zerks to grease on it and painting it on the mnigrese gun as well that going in my toolbox so i never lose a driveshaft again due to no servicing of it by anybody, I need to go visit the front hub grease post as well and learn how to pull the wheel or drum or whatever it is to grease the full time hub bearings that were also never gresed with my dealer lifetime grease and oil change job i got with the truck, thanks all again
