Just put in the newly rebuilt front driveshaft assembly today. I had taken it out on Monday nite to drop off at the driveshaft/truck repair shop. Anyway the truck has 150k on it, and winter weather is coming, and the pre-season grease and check revealed a little wear in the C. V. joint,(actually, one of the needle cups was turning, not a good sign. ) the sliding spline, and the u-joint. The shop cleaned, disassembled, and inspected the stock unit. After a brief phone conversation, We agreed the best plan would be to save only the C. V. joint flange and forged trunnion. The new unit consisted of the original C. V. flange, trunnion, all new ball sockets, new shaft tube H. D. , longer 1" spline and H. D. sliding sleeve with boot seal, new H. D. u-joint, welding and balanced, with new caps and bolts. ALL of the ball sockets, joints, and spline are greasable. The cost complete was $280. 00, and the shop had all of the old shaft, and components clean and wrapped for pickup at the same time. This stuff is rebuildable Guys! Great shop, and they know their stuff. The shop is Overland Driveshaft Service, Montville, C. T. 860 848 3077. Paul is THE MAN. Tell him Frank sent you. Regards.
