SGR,

First off,

Let me welcome you to the TDR. It is hard to believe that a truck with 17,000 miles can be suffering like this. It has happened to many before and will happen again. Give me a call this weekend, I should be around, and I can help with your issues. I have a ton of experience with DW and have an idea how to solve it...

At one point I was able to practically eliminate it by very precisely equallizing the BFG 315 tire pressure at 40 psi on both sides. That made a huge difference. I will be getting new tires probably in the spring.

Never had DW at all. Though not a cure-all, I keep my 315s at 50 psi (front) / 45 psi (rear) at all times. I don't think any other pressure should be run in those tires for the front. Lower pressures I feel exacerbate the problem and lead to the bounce, especially under the heavy Cummins. GOOD balancing of the tires is probably another good tool to keep DW in check.

Like others, I am still looking for an E rated 35" tire that doesn't sound like a minigun on the highway. :{

Interco Tires

In regards to the Interco tires, my 97 came with a set of Interco 255 85 16 Truxus MTs that look exactly the same as the "super swamper".

Good traction while new. But they sure wear fast and I've been told by another former TDR member who had the same tire that when they wear down to the wear bars they have little traction on slick roads. Design is prone to cupping on a 4x4. In addition, in spite of all the weights on the wheels they still had a shimmy at 60 mph. No shimmy with either the 235 85 17 Cooper Discover STs or the Rickson 225 70 19. 5s.

Having said that, maybe they will do fine in big sand country.

pro comp extreme at's are rated to 99mph and come in 33 12. 50 17 and 305 65 17. maybe not quite the look of the 35's but are e rated and have performed well for me on my 06 3500 4x4 mega. core chase and very smooth to 109 mph. only did that once though.

that is true. i will have to go front to back - same side. i only have about 3000 miles on them and the wear is even across all four tires so far. my f350 lariat dually had those nice ford polished alloys and i basically did the same thing, thus only having to dismount 4 tires instead of six. anyway i was running 285 55 16's. goodyear at. i got about 40,000 miles out of those even though duallies are a little rough on front tires. to answer your question i am hoping with rotating every 5000 they should last fine. only time will tell though. these are my first try with pro comps. so far so good. here is a pic of my truck at the santa fe ski area. the light was just right for the photo and it came out pretty well for a little point and shoot digital camera. the 305's i have may lack the "cool" factor of 35's but with 373 gears this truck really moves.

I had severe DW on a '96 2500 4wd 360 V8 truck - tires were 255/85R16 Dunlop Radial Rovers..... Do a search on my user name for the gory details.

I've got America's Tire Pathfinder ATR 315s on my '00 (second set, first set went to ~60K miles) and run them at ~35 psi in front and 30 psi in back when not towing - no signs of DW even with a bad track bar.....

Mega

Nelssen your mega is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

I was on the pro comp site today and they don't show the tires you talk about, only a 37x13. 50x17. Please keep me posted on them if they work out good I would love to get a set. I'm running the toyo M/T 35x12. 50x17 right now and everything is good just a little much for me (looks and price).

I will be staying with 17's had my factory rims powder coated black and I love the blacked out look.

Any info that you could PM me with to make my choise after the toyo wear out would be the best.

Howdy first post.

I have been following this thread for a while. Just last week with 13700 miles on a bone stock 05 3/4 4x4 I got the death wobble. Truck has 99. 9% on highway use, the off road use was just AZ dirt roads. One day the truck was rock solid, the next it is hopping on the interstate. Have had one trip to the dealer last week and they installed new front shocks. That helped, but if I hit a bump I still get 2 or 3 good bounces out of the front end. I have already called the dealer and the truck is going back after the first of the year.
