2001 3500 4x4, I've got a clicking noise in the front, it sounds like it's from the left front wheel. It doesn't go away when I'm on the brakes, but it does go away when turning. I can't hear it with the windows up and it doesn't do it when I jack up the front end and turn the wheel by hand. What is it? It's driving me nuts and I haven't been able to find it yet.

I've got what might be the same sound only right side and much more noticeable when turning. I've kind of determined it to be the u-joint or hub.

Tim, have you tried taking the factory chrome ring and cap off and seeing if thats what it is.

I got tired of mine making that exact noise so I went and bought some aluminum wheels. Problem solved!... ... . Jim

I'm going to try that, I noticed the problem after rotating the tires and it sounds kind of plasticy. I know that's not a word but it's the only one I had.

I have the exact same problem, only I hear mine when I am braking and not so much when I am not??

Someone else told me to check the plastic wheel covers, I hope it's that simple!!
