Hello Everyone,

I've got a question about the suspenion on the 2500's... my truck is a 98. 5 sport model. The front springs are the 038/039 combination and the front end sits lower than the rear. So, i want to swap in a different set of coils. After looking around on the dealer lots, the appearance of the 039/040 springs is much more to my liking. However, I tow my Jeep a lot with the truck and with the Jeep on its trailer(about 7000lbs), the truck fits roughly level. This leads me to believe that the rear springs are also on the lighter side. Does anyone have part numbers for the various coil/spring combinations?

I've noticed there seem to be 3 sets of coils available for the front:
038/039
039/040
046/047

Now I just need to see what the corresponding rear leaf combination is so that I can get the correct rear leaves as well...

Also, anyone added rear helper springs to their truck? I know mine has the holes for the "bumpers" in the frame, so it seems I'd just need those bumpers and the overload spring.

Also #2, anyone added a rear swaybar to their truck? Seems very easy to do, I'd just need the bar, the links and a few nuts. Seems easy enough, just wondering if anyone has done it... .

Thanks for any info.

My long bed, std. cab, 2-WD, 97 always seemed nose heavy. I jacked it up, dropped both lower control arms, (didn't have to take the ball joints apart, just took the four big inner bolts out & took the shocks loose) took the coil springs out, inserted a 1" rubber spacer under the springs, put it back together, and that did the trick. The rubber bumpers had been hitting the frame since it was new, and I always felt it should sit a little higher in front. It never has bottomed out again since I put the spacers in, and it sits level. I've put about 75,000 miles on it in the last two years, and the spacers are still looking good..... DDG

I added a rear antisway bar and a set ofadjustable overloads, ala Hellwig or Dayton to mine. I added a set of 2" steel spring spacers to compensate for winch sag. I added a set of aftermarket control arms while I was at it. I think a 1" spacer set would have been more to my liking. TRuck came with 39/39 in the front.

Is yours a 2wd or 4wd?

If it's a 4x4 I'd highly recommend swapping the front springs for Skyjacker's. I put them on mine and is raised the front 2 1/8 inches. Now it sits level unloaded. There's about 300 lbs in the back in the form of sprayed in bed liner, gooseneck hitch, and Glasstight topper. With a 7000 lb trailer it might sag in the back a little. I plan on just making some spacer blocks for the back that are about 1" taller than the stock ones.

I can't speak to the anti-sway bar. I don't like them, don't have one in the back and am planning on trying mine out for a while without the front one.
