Please Help!

I have an 03, 2500 4x4 and have a horrible knock somewhere in the front of the truck that goes with the vehicle speed. I have all new axle u-joints, rotors, calipers, ball joints, tie rods, shocks and carrier bearings and took the front driveshaft out. It is a metallic knock that comes and goes and cant figure it out for the life of me and its driving me nuts. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

If it knocks with minor suspension movement then I suggest you check the sway bar end links. If they haven't been changed they'd just about have to be bad by now. You have to take it loose from the sway bar to check the joint.

Also check the lower shock mounting bolt. If that is just a hair loose it will make quite a noise. A lot of techs do not torque them and that can cause an issue.

This is assuming that the noise is related to suspension activity.

I have all new sway bar end links and sway bar bushings too.

I know the GM trucks that I work will make a knock noise with the steering shaft. Google it. there notorious for it. Just my . 02 .

I think I figured it out. I think The preload on the carrier is messed up and that's what's knocking. Does anyone have the specs and info on how to set it right?

check your wheel bearings. mine had a thump/knock that i though was the front driveshaft cv. i had very low mile wheel bearings and they weren't loose. turned out the driver side had a bad spot and now that my wallet is lighter from the purchase, the truck is much smoother.
