The front suspention in my truck is getting pretty tired. I want to rebuild it but am not sure what all to replace. I was going to start with control arm bushings. Not sure whare to go from there. Should I replace ball joints, or any off the steering components? I replaced shocks all the way around about 5,000 ago and the truck has 190,000 on it, the last time it was done was around 80,000 by the prievious owner. I am also looking to install a DSS. Were is the best place to get them and are there any other tricks or mods to do on the front end to fight the stearing wander.

I would repace only whats needed 1st[ what ever is worn ] , with up graded parts - neopream [ I blame my bad speeling on the key board ] insted of rubber , then as time or wear come do the same to other parts , thats becouse I can not through money at it , from what I've read [ becouse I haven't needed any yet ] there are better after market parts for some of the steering ft. end stuff , Lukeslink is one , Stealbuis , the steering shaft ,
One of the things I should do , to keep whats good last longer is to get a set of the wheel balancing products , like Centermatics these guys handle them ,
http://www.MrTruck.com , theres a hole bunch of stuff for the ft. end you may want to do a search on this site as you need , I'm sure more ideas will be posted.

If your doing the bushings you might as well do the ball joints as you will be there anyway. The next step is tie rod ends, check for play in those items to determine if they need to be replaced right away. Keep in mind that if you piece meal the job you will be paying for a front end alignment after each sequence. That money could have been used for more parts.

along with the DSS, get the 3rd gen trackbar conversion plate. I think either Mr bobs or Piers sells them. The 3rd gen bar and the DSS both helped my wander a lot.

Here's a list

1) Lukes links for the tie rods.

2) DSS for sure without a doubt the best money spent to prevent parts from wearing out and causing wander.

3) Ball joints? Mine are the originals I have over 250K tough miles on them.

4) I have the DT track bar. I have to replace the heim joint every other year.

Is it worth it? Yes! It allows me to properly center my front axle.

5) Check your CV joints! Replace them if they have play.

6) Make sure your steering stabilizer is in good shape.

7) I have the DT 1/2 " longer control arms to re-center the wheels due to the 4- 1/2" SFB custom lift.

8) Do you drive your truck on wet roads or in dusty conditions maybe even offroad?

You may need SFB Boots for your calipers.

PM me for details.
