Okay, so now I have the driver's side front brake locking up... I need to check my newly-refurbished brakes, but is it a symptom of anything else? Surely that bearing isn't going again...

So Joe, will that steering stabilizer really make a difference? Mine is stock and looks shot; I'm getting one shortly.

You bet. If the stabilizer is shot it hard to keep it between the fences. You can check it with a dial indicator. If you can see any slop at all just by looking at it when the steering wheel is turned it's shot.

When the brakes are done the pins MUST be cleaned and lubed with high temp brake or bearing grease. The sliding surfaces where the calipers slide on the mount must be smooth and lubed with the same grease. I have 128K miles on my truck. Still have the oiriginal never been turned rotors. I'm on my third set of pads. Still stops straight even when a deer causes a panic stop on US101.

well i think i have narrowed it down... i found a loose shock mount that i replaced today, but still have the noise, but now it is def, coming from the rear, i installed amsoil 75w90, and i am going to go back to dino gear oil with a friction modifier due to my limited slip, this should clear up my problem IMO, but we will see.

That is totally wierd. I got the same sound on Saturday. Only for about a second. I figured it was a fenderburg from all the ice and snow and didn't pay any attention to it and I hasn't happened again. I know that I need new pads and rotors on front, actually have everything in the box waiting, just waiting for good weather. Got almost 85K, other truck had 185k when I traded with the original bearings in the front.

Let me know what you find out.

That is exactly what I thought it was too, until I got out and looked. I am going to ATS tommorow for the TDR meeting, maybe someone will know down there if I can take them for a drive.

And Cut!

Problem solved!:D

I went to NAPA and picked up a bottle of BG lmtd. slip additive. I drove to Denver today and the problem has not come back.

This morning I had buddy move the truck slowly while I felt each wheel for a bump or catch. Each time the rear wheel on the inside of the turn would chatter like the diff was not letting it take the track it needed to.

I feel better now... ... thanks for the help.

Just a heads up. I put Amsoil 75W-140W in the rear LS differential about five months ago. Did the figure eights, ran smooth with no friction modifier. I have about 4,000 miles on it now. Recently I started noticing a slight grinding feeling in the driveline when turning on an uphill incline. Put two ounces of modifier in and grinding has stopped. Just a heads up for those using Amsoil, may be OK at first but keep an eye on it.
