After 75k miles my front end started to wobble on turns just as if it were in 4 wheel drive but it is not... ... I think.

It started suddenly. I messed with putting it in/out of 4 wd, backing it up etc. No luck. Ok going in a straight line. I consulted with my service mgr. at home in Anchorage and he thinks it is the u-joints in the front axles or possibly the ball joints but I am 4300 miles from home. Oo.

I have an appt. Mon. AM at the Dodge dealer in Casa Grande, Az. and my warranty is still 10k miles from expiration.

Turned out to be the left front axle u-joint was seized up. I could not get them to do both sides while they had it. Said if they took off parts that were not bad they would not get reimbursed by the factory.
They had to replace the hub and brake backing plate also as they damaged it getting it apart. Bearing seized on also.
$978 bill; $100 warranty deductible including 3 1/2 day car rental.
I predict the right one will go in 2000 miles.

Motorhead,
Yes they do salt the roads in Alaska. Last week I drove approx. 200 miles in Nev. with salt or some kind of muck on the icy roads. It was everywhere on my truck and 5th. whl. Actually the service writer said my truck was obviously a northern (rusty) truck.

They heated the hub, beat on it with a sledge hammer, more heating and then broke the bearing. On the right side they have ordered a new hub/bearing. At least he said they ordered it. There were no parts in yet this AM but I left the truck anyway and got a rental car on their ticket to keep them interested.
SOS at the dealer.
