Does anybody know the part number for the front fuel filter lid? As some of likely know I rounded the threads slightly on the first filter change today on my 15' 3500. Just want to get a new one to ensure no problems down the rode.
I've been lucky (owned CTD's since 1997) and I've never had that happen to me.
With that being said....heavily coat not only the o-ring, but the inside of the cap area around the threads with new engine oil. When installing the cap, turn it counter-clockwise a few turns until you feel the cap "drop down" on the threads. This always helps in preventing a cross-threaded cap. Tighten as usual.
I don't think the OP was having an issue with boogering up the 29mm fitting on the cap.....I thought he meant the cap went on crooked and he cross-threaded it
