Front Hitch

Has anyone mounted a front hitch on their rig. If so, which make/models. Also how about installation problems!

If you check out the pix in my "View Reader's Rigs Gallery" section, you can see (it is a bit dark) the front receiver immediately below my front license plate. Obviously I was after the bumper, and the front hitch was a nice option, but I have used it to launch several boats and it works absolutely great. I figure I can use mine for a bicycle or small motorcycle mount if/when I want to. . Gerry

I bought a Hidden Hitch front mount reciever for my 1998. Very easy installation, no holes to drill, came with all the hardware,and its very sturdy.

It's been a while since I checked but I haven't been able to find a bolt on front hitch for the 3rd generation. I want one myself. Post if you find one and I'll do the same.

I got a front hitch for my 03 3500 from etrailer.com. They have them for the 1500, 2500 and 3500. It was not too difficult to install. I did not follow their instructions completely. They want to drill a large hole (I think 1" ) in the frame. I mounted the hitch and only drilled a size hole for the bolt and used a fish wire to get it through. I had to go behind the front wheel to find an opening to get the extra long fish wire through, but it worked with an impact wrench to tighten the bolt.

That's a real good looking bumper!! Right now I can't afford to buy that monster just for the front hitch!!

Warn makes one. You will have to cut a square hole in the plastic piece that is just under the bumper. Draw-Tite said they will make one but I've been waiting for several months and still no receiver I had one on my other truck and used it to haul my generator. Worked great. Wayne

Did you have to drill a hole into the frame. If so, any recommendations as I'm told Dodge does not recommend drilling into the frame.

I was cruising through the Draw-tite website and they had a front hitch for the Dodge 02-04 1500. . I wonder what would keep you from putting it on a 3500? Im about to order one and modify where needed. I only would use it to park my 30' trailer and possible bicycle rack.

Nice web site DF5152! That black truck sure is hard to photo. I like the Warn front hitch better because it doesn't hang down as low. I want a front hitch to hang my spare tire on when our camper is on the back, and I was looking for something to protect the bottom of the coolers.
