For what it's worth ($90), the front hood protection shield is funtional. There are bugs splattered all over my otherwise clean and shiny truck and nary a one on my windshield. This is a good accessory. It works and I think the color co-ordinated one looks good on the sport and Laramie.

Hmm we must have more bugs in Texas because I still get lots of them on my windshield despite the factory bug shield... Oh well it looks good at least...

Hi Dean,

Tampa to Orlando bugs go 50/50,my chrome colored shield, & windshield are both in serious need of de-bugging. Who has the secret to protecting paint,& removing bugs. I use a net sponge, & water with a little soap, then re-wax. My neighbor sprays Pam on the front bumper, grill area, swears by it.

Simple Green, let sut a couple minutes then bug sponge. The Simple Green seems to soften up the bugs and they usually come off very easy.

I use a Bug and Tar gel that you can get from AutoZone. It's a translucent blue liquid. And just a plain old sponge. Seems to really get them off well. I also use Meguires Gold Class car wash. If you make two passes with your soapy sponge, they come right off as well (no bug and tar gel req'd).

How about when you raise the hood two days after you wash your truck, and that radiator is butt loaded with bugs and crap. Nice huh? Man... I'm all the time trying to keep that stinkin' thing clean. Oh-well, I guess it's a by product of driving such a good looking truck. :D
