I am a fan of having my lucky license plate on the front of my truck. I have had this plate on my previous trucks and want it on the new one. The lack of a factory provided front license plate support bracket allows a plate to flap in the breeze and/or get bent up. I looked into buying some sort of a bracket without success. Of course I found hundreds of surrounds but I was looking for something more structural to support the plate.
So I made one out of aluminum sheet (~ 1/8" thick) and added a HDPE support bumper to the back of it as a "stand off". This thing is solid now and will keep the plate firmly mounted. So now my lucky plate is riding on the truck where it belongs. Here are a few photos in case someone wants to replicate or improve it.
1/8" thick aluminum backer cut out and ready to polish along with the HDPE standoff.
Finished, polished a bit, and on the truck w/o the plate in place
View from side showing the standoff/support
My lucky plate installed on the plate bracket with a new surround as well.
