Does the lowerd black plastic "air dam" on the front of the truck serve any real purpose? Or is it a cosmetic thing? I'd like to remove mine for some lighting.

I have had one for a while on my truck. Did not come with one. The body shop put one on after a mishap. I can tell no difference in driving or handling. Looks only.

air dam

Couldn't tell ya - Ordered mine without so I wouldn't have to remove or cut it so the front mount receiver could fit.

They say it helps keeps more air going into the grill area , than under. But the trucks are soo high I can't believe it makes that much of a difference. And if it really did , it would probably be part of the tow package, but it aint.

My conclusion has been that it's for looks.

Now on a slammed Dak or something, winding through the Glen Rock, it might make a difference. .

Some folks buy them aftermarket or from DC... you may find a taker for it.
