I have a hidden hitch front receiver hitch on my 2004. 5 Q-cab 2500 4x4. I paid right at $100 for it from etrailer.com. It was a pain to mount as one inch holes must be drilled in the bottoms of the frame. It is rated at 9000 lbs. My main reason for purchasing it was to protect the bottoms of all of the coolers mounted to the radiator. For a 4x4 with a tin bumper, these are really exposed. A secondary purpose was to help move my travel trailer in tight spots. Finally, if I ever decided I need a winch, I can mount a removable one.

The only problem with the stock hitch is that the receiver pokes out below the air dam. This doesn't help an already bad approach angle. I had my local 4x4 shop, Fly-N-Hi, move the receiver above the hitch cross member and cut a hole in the air dam. It looks good with a RAM receiver plug and is truly a "hidden hitch" now.

WhiteSheep, Do you happen to have a pic of the hidden hitch?

This is something that would help me alot getting my trailer back into storage.

I know I am out of gen.

I did the etrailer front hitch on a 2nd gen. Holes matched up fine. No drilling.

I carry a bicycle rack on mine. Also good for 9k pull if needed.

Hidden Hitch

I also installed the front hidden hitch on my 03 3500. I did not drill the one inch holes like they wanted. I drilled a hole the same size as the case harden bolt I put in with a looooooong fish wire. Worked great, no problems.

My bumper has one built in. It doesn't seem to be as handy for moving trailers as I would've thought. The problem is seeing around the trailer. A left turn is about all you can see with. Almost need mirrors pointing forward...
