My front crank seal is leaking again, replaced it about 26k ago. I used a Cummins seal and gaskets, gonna do it again on Sat, My tach has been errtic, some times too... lots of oil on the balancer, Got any tips to help. . ???

Thanks Terry

Just follow the install instructions, make sure your crank is clean of ANY oil. That Teflon must be transfered to a dry clean surface. Use the install guide included in the kit. suggestion, use some guide pins to help install the cover back on. Same size bolts that you remove from the cover, just a couple inches longer, cut the heads off, and campher. [round] install into bolt location, install cover.

just my penny's worth.

If you are having problems with front seals the most likely reason is a warped front cover. While you have it off use a straight edge and check the cover. The later covers are stronger and will stay straight longer. If the seal was replaced without removing the front cover it is warped from the stress of hammering in the new seal.

Sometimes if a seal is allowed to leak too long dirt mixing with the oil will wear a groove into the shaft, no matter what you do as long as the seal rides in the groove it will develop a leak. You can check for a groove with your fingernail.

Don't know what to tell you if there is a groove in that location, not sure if the seal can be installed deeper or shallower or if a speedy-sleeve can be used.
