Ordered my 2011 CTD.

Does anybody know how to change the name of an album in MyGIG?

The front seal on the rear differential is leaking, bad enough that it has left a thick coat of oil all over the back end of the gas tank that drips down on the ground.

I just had the truck in for an oil change at the dealer on 8/11/2010. Ticket states- Check all fluids and advise. Inspect for leaks.

I guess this could have started in the four days since the oil change, but I"m kinda wondering. Coincidence?

Approx. 8,500 miles... .

On my '03 the same thing happened after I changed the oil. I only drove a few miles and then parked it in the garage and noticed a couple days later it was leaking.

Like BurlesonR said, have it replaced under warranty and you shouldn't have any more problems with it.

Picked up truck today after seal change. Drove it home 25 miles on the freeway at 70mph. Went inside and did some work. Decided to use another one of my vehicles to travel to a business meeting. While backing out of the driveway I noticed the back end of the truck was covered with oil and dust. Got out and looked under truck. Technician had either forgot to re-install differential fill plug or didn't tighten it and it vibrated out on the way home. Called dealer and they sent a flat bed tow truck to pick it up.

wow

For some reason, when I was backing out of the drive, the sun caught the oil sheen on the tailgate just right and made a rainbow. The minute I saw that I knew something wasn't right.

That's one of several reasons why dealers carry garage liabiltiy insurance. I can tell you how far a newly overhauled 13-speed Roadranger transmission will run when the tech forgot to fill with oil after reinstalling it in the truck.

Wow is right! Wonder how much gear lube was left? Since you were leaving for a business meeting, I guess you didn't have time to investigate? I'd be very leery if the dealer tells you everything is fine and just fills her back up with a new plug...

Sucky situation, especially with a new truck. Sorry to hear that it happened. Reminds me of some of the experiences I had with the local Ford dealer... .

Hey, look at the good points-

1) Being the differential, if there is anything wrong it will show up way before the 36,000 mile warranty is up.

2) The issue is well documented

Bad points-

1) If there is something wrong, it will pick the worst time to rear it's ugly head. (out in the middle of no where towing a trailer!)

The service manager is delivering it back to my house tomorrow. Glad they didn't make me pick it up!
