I changed out the factory head unit in a 98 QC 3500, I can't get front door speakers to work, the rear speakers work fine. Is there anything I have to do get front speakers to work with aftermarket radio. Someone told me that factory fronts have a amp on them, and thats why, but the rear speakers work and don't they get power from the fronts.

The advice you got is correct. I had the same thing happen to me when I put a radio in my truck. Double check to be sure, but here's what I think you need to do:

On Connector #2, Pin #1, you'll find a dark green wire with a red tracer. That wire needs to have 12V on it to make the door speakers work. Try using the wire the puts the antenna up, or turns the amp on to energize this wire. After that, your door speakers will work just fine.
